Danilo’s long-range, deflected strike in the 18th minute opened the scoring in a first 45 of little action, where City dominated possession but failed to carve out genuine clear-cut opportunities.
But an explosive start to the second half saw the Blues score twice in 148 seconds, the first a close-range Raheem Sterling diving header ten minutes after the break, the second a powerful run and calm finish from Sane.
Reflecting on the victory, the German was quick to credit the boss with the improvement.
“He’s always relaxed but tries to give us the solution about what we can do better – he did it again and I think everyone could see in the second half it was much better,” Sane said.
“We know in the Premier League always out of nowhere is a goal and if they (Huddersfield) scored to make it 1-1 it would have been difficult to win the game.”
Danilo’s opener was the Blues’ 100th goal in all competition this season, flying into the Huddersfield net thanks to a heavy deflection.
The Brazilian jokingly claimed he was a little concerned he would not be credited with the goal but said the individual accolade paled in insignificance compared to the result.
“For sure (I was concerned), but the win is more important”, the full-back revealed.
“Sometimes we tried things (in the first half) that didn’t happen, so it was important in the second half that we pushed and were more intensive.”
“If we want to win the Premier League, we have to win every game week by week.”
