A fantastic performance in both halves from Pep Guardiola’s side saw City claim all three points over title rivals Liverpool on Thursday night, with his players battling hard through-out.
Sergio Aguero fired City ahead from close range inside the opening 45 minutes with his 250th career league goal before Roberto Firmino got the equaliser for the Reds just after the break.
However, the Blues produced the goods when Leroy Sane latched onto the end of Raheem Sterling’s pass and fired left-footed into the back of the net to score a sublime, and vital, winner.

The captain praised his side’s performance post-match and described the emotion that the City players showed on the pitch.
“I’m not worried about the result - I’m buzzing with the tremendous performance. We went toe to toe with a very physical aggressive team and we matched them,” Kompany said after the game.
“The result is the result and it’s still in Liverpool’s hands. It (the win) came from our guts, and a desire you can’t describe. The 12th man is more than the fans - it’s something from within and we are a better team when we play with emotions.”
