Wolves have been impressive all season, continuing to play the stylish football they played in the Championship last year with great effect in the top tier.
They have also taken points off City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs this season and seem to enjoy playing the top teams more than those in the bottom half.
They have also conceded just 10 goals in 10 games on the road.
They play technical, expansive football and they will enjoy the open spaces the Etihad Stadium pitch will afford them.
Last season, Wolves were unlucky not to beat the Blues in the Carabao Cup, only losing on penalties, so expect them to be confident and a genuine threat.
2 Four goals short…
City’s recent goal-burst has left the Blues just four short of a century in all competitions.
During our Centurions campaign, by this time last season, the Blues had bagged 83 goals so if anything, this team have become even more potent.
What will please Pep Guardiola more than anything is the way the goals are being shared around by his players – Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane are already into double figures for the season with David Silva, Bernardo and Riyad Mahrez almost certain to join them.
The only position the goals aren’t coming from this season are central defence with just four shared between Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi, Vincent Kompany and John Stones – though in fairness their first job is to prevent goals being scored!
3 Silva to post new record?
Should David Silva play any part of the game against Wolves on Monday evening, he will overtake Joe Hart as the City player with the most Premier League appearances.
Silva is now level with Joe Hart on 266 league appearances and Wolves would be his 267th.
Vincent Kompany is on 257 and not too far away but given El Mago is something of an ever-present on Pep Guardiola’s starting XI, he is likely to push on and should pass the 300-mark at some stage next season.
