The 29-year-old midfielder departs after four seasons at the Etihad Stadium, having played an important role in the Club’s back to back Premier League triumphs.
Delph made 89 appearances in total, scoring five goals and will be remembered, in particular, for his contribution to the emphatic 2017/18 title win, where he shone in what was then, the unfamiliar left-back position.
It was the England international’s standout campaign in sky blue, with his energy, strength in the tackle and the ease at which he could move inside to add an extra body in midfield allowing him to excel in 29 appearances.
The Yorkshireman enjoyed the most successful spell of his career to date in Manchester and it’s a period he reflects on fondly.
“I am extremely proud to have played for Manchester City and of what I have achieved here,” Delph said.
“I joined the Club with the aim of winning trophies and I am delighted I have been able to do that whilst playing alongside a fantastic group of players.
“I would like to thank all my team-mates, the staff and the fans for their support and I wish the Club all the best for the future.”
A summer 2015 acquisition, Delph’s industry and unwavering commitment to the cause has won him plenty of admirers since he arrived from Aston Villa.
He made his debut against Everton in August of that year and scored his first goal in a 3-1 win over Southampton in November, though injury disrupted his maiden campaign.
It was a similar story the following season, when he made just 13 appearances, but the Bradford-born midfielder came to the fore in an unforgettable 2017/18.
He was a revelation at left-back, playing 22 times in the Premier League as City set a new record of 18 consecutive wins and tallied an unprecedented 100 points.
Amongst his highlights was a strike of the highest quality against Crystal Palace and his performance in the crucial 1-0 win over Chelsea.
Delph’s form that season earned him inclusion in England’s 2018 World Cup squad, where he helped the Three Lions reach the semi-finals - their best performance for 28 years.
Returning to club football, he was then afforded the ultimate honour of captaining his country against the United States at Wembley Stadium in November 2018 and he went on to make 20 appearances last season as City were again crowned Premier League champions.
