Phil Foden was delighted to see his fellow young charges impress again for City's senior team, as Pep Guardiola's side cruised to victory against Kitchee.

Although the Catalan boss fielded a highly-experienced starting XI, a host of starlets were introduced from the bench in the second half, helping the Premier League Champions to a 6-1 triumph in a pre-season friendly in Hong Kong.

Nabil Touaizi and Iker Pozo found the net for the fifth and sixth goals, after David Silva, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling strikes had opened up a commanding lead.

Having progressed through the ranks himself, Foden expressed his pride.

“They’re all really talented lads,” he said, “and they can all really push on to the first-team.

“I’m happy to see them score.”

Foden joined the squad on Monday, following a well-deserved month off for his England Under-21 exploits.

While the midfielder admitted he is yet to rekindle full fitness, he believes the test in Asia will prove beneficial to City’s pre-season preparations.

“It was really tough,” he conceded. “I’ve not been here long but to get a few minutes was nice.

“It was warm. The lads did well in the heat.

“I have to keep training hard but I’ll be back (to full fitness) shortly.”
