Pep Guardiola and his Fourmidables squad landed in Shanghai on Tuesday and within hours the boss led his players through a training session at the Yuanshen Stadium.

26 of the 27 who travelled took part. Luke Bolton was the only one to miss out, instead receiving treatment on his left leg.

They were in fine spirits, with Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, John Stones and new signing Rodri all involved and offered a warm welcome by the 400 locals inside the stadium.

And with a number of senior stars absent after international commitments over the summer, they were joined by a number of the Club’s most promising youth players.

Lukas Nmecha, Nabil Touaizi, Gavin Bazunu, Iker Pozo, Tommy Doyle, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adrian Bernabe, Ian Poveda-Ocampo, Alpha Dionkou and Ben Knight all looked perfectly comfortable as they limbered up in preparation for tomorrow’s game.

The players engaged in a light session aimed at loosening their legs after a long flight and helping them acclimatise to the weather ahead of tomorrow’s game against West Ham in Nanjing.

After a series of stretches overseen by Lorenzo Buenaventura, the players focused on quick passing drills, splitting into small groups of Rondos.

They then made a large-scaled Rondo, taking up a third of the pitch, with players allowed a maximum of two touches, with Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta keeping a watchful eye on proceedings.

The intensity was high, with control of the ball in tight spaces and quick passing key.

Meanwhile, goalkeepers Claudio Bravo, Daniel Grimshaw and Gavin Bazunu engaged in a separate session led by specialist coach Xabier Mancisidor.

Tomorrow’s game at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center kicks off at 13:30 UK time (20:30 local time), with the winner set to face either Newcastle or Wolves in Saturday’s Premier League Asia Trophy final.
