The defending champions are on a 12-game domestic winning streak, and further victories against Leicester City on Monday and away to Brighton next Sunday would guarantee the title.
If Liverpool lose to Newcastle this weekend, however, three points against the Foxes would retain the title, but Bernardo is under no illusions about the difficulty of the task facing the team.
He said: “We must keep playing and going in the same way. These are extremely difficult games, but we’ll certainly give our best to win.
“We’ll maintain the same attitude and play the same way. We must keep a similar mindset that brought us here, the aim is to win and retain the title.”

With Leicester City enjoying a resurgence under Brendan Rodgers and Brighton potentially needing points to stave off relegation, our final two games present very different challenges.
Nonetheless, Bernardo feels the Blues have enough to get over the line.
“We’re playing at home against Leicester and that’s very important – our fans will be there supporting us,” he said.
“As for the last game against Brighton, it’s slightly different… (against) a team that might be fighting for points in those last fixtures to stay in the Premier League.
“We’ve now only two important games that we must win in order to retain the Premier League title – we need two more wins!”
If City can grind out performances like the one against Burnley last Sunday, then they will be in a great position to grab the six points needed to get over the line.
Sergio Aguero’s 20th league goal of the season grabbed a hard-fought 1-0 win away to the Clarets and, while Bernardo was pleased with the team’s efforts, he insisted they won’t be resting on their laurels.
“It’s always easier to play at home with our fans than away, it’s a small detail but it makes a huge difference,” he said.
“It is a very difficult place to play at [Turf Moor]. It was a well-deserved win against Burnley, but nothing is decided yet.”
