While the Catalan boss is always first to praise his players, the players, in turn, have heaped praise on their manager as the Blues collected the Premier League title against Brighton on Sunday.
Sterling, who collected the PFA Young Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Player of the Year, was first to laud the manger’s role in City’s recent successes.

“With the manager here, the mentality is the best, it’s all about winning no matter what game it is, no matter what team it is, winning, winning, winning, and how we can win, it’s a credit to him the way he sets us up,” Sterling said.
“I’m just happy to be here working, learning and winning another Premier League.
“As a manager, he’s got multiple players in each positions, and players challenge each other and I think that’s the most important thing, no-one’s comfortable here everyone’s on their toes and everyone’[s prepared when they get their chance, like Riyad today, he hasn’t played for a while and when he came in, I knew he was going to score at some point, or get a chance and he did that and I’m happy for him.
“The most important thing was the team and how we performed, to go 1-0 down and come back we showed our character as usual.
“It’s been a lovely season, after a difficult World Cup I said to myself I’ve got to start fast this season, and I’m happy I’ve been able to have a decent season and hoping that I can go one better next year.”
Laporte added: “It was a difficult game and I think it’s very important for the team to win against Brighton and win the Premier League trophy.
“What can I say? I’m very happy to be here, to be part of this team and hopefully next year is the same as days like today.”
And top scorer Aguero, who bagged his 32nd of another memorable season for the back-to-back champions, revealed Pep’s advice and calming influence ahead of the Seagulls clash.
He said: “We knew we could win; we weren’t thinking Liverpool, just about our game.
“Pep said just focus on our game, not on Liverpool that’s not our problem. It’s more important that we all do it as teammates, I hope next year we do the same.”
