Kevin De Bruyne and Benjamin Mendy are back in the starting lineup for the trip to Crystal Palace as Pep Guardiola makes four changes to the side that lost to Wolves.

De Bruyne hasn’t played since coming suffering a groin injury with 10 minutes of our win at Everton remaining, while Mendy missed the defeat to Wolves with a hamstring strain.

Gabriel Jesus starts upfront, with Sergio Aguero left on the bench, and Bernardo Silva replaces Riyad Mahrez on the right. 

John Stones, who has missed our last six matches with a rectus femoris problem, is back on the bench.

Kyle Walker isn’t fully fit and has been left in Manchester to recover.

City tactics

It’s 4-3-3 as ever for City, with Guardiola unwavering in his attacking approach to games.

It would appear Fernandinho and Rodri are set to start together at centre-back, with Ilkay Gundogan operating in the holding role. Cancelo will look to add width and attacking impetus down the right and Mendy will do the same on the opposite flank.

David Silva and De Bruyne will bring guile and composure to midfield, with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo playing either side of Jesus, who leads the line. 

City’s primary objective will be to dominate possession and move the ball quickly. If we do that, we should have enough quality to win the game. 

Palace pose a threat, though. They come into the game sixth in the table and in Wilfried Zaha they possess perhaps the best player outside the traditional ‘Top Six’ sides.

They have looked defensively sound, too, conceding just eight goals so far this season.
