Phil Foden is one of four City youngsters to have been named in an England age group squad ahead of the October international break.

The 19-year-old has been selected for the U21s, with Ian Poveda called up by the U20s and Tommy Doyle and Taylor Harwood-Bellis both named in in the U19 squad.

Foden, who scored a brace for the Young Lions against Kosovo last month, will join up with Aidy Boothroyd’s squad for a friendly in Slovenia before their European U21 Championships qualifier against Austria.

Having represented England at every level from U16, Poveda continues that trend with his first inclusion in the U20 set-up.

The 19-year-old winger has one goal and one assist for the Elite Development Squad (EDS) this season and will face Italy and the Czech Republic with Paul Simpson’s side.

Meanwhile, fresh from his competitive City debut, Harwood-Bellis joins EDS captain Doyle in the U19s, who will be taking part in the International Marbella Cup.

The teenage duo, both of whom were in the squad that beat Greece in September, are recalled for fixtures against France and Belgium.
