The boss also revealed he will give his defenders rest whenever he can as the schedule becomes more hectic in the coming weeks.
Benjamin Mendy’s managed return continued with another half-hour of action and Kyle Walker wasn’t 100% fit to play at Deepdale.
Said Pep: “Kyle needed a rest and wasn’t fit, and Mendy has missed most of the last two seasons, so we had Angelino and Cancelo playing from the start and they did well, too.
“We are thinking about Everton now – we will think about the Carabao Cup when we see the draw on Wednesday and play in the next round.
“We take every game seriously or else we wouldn’t be able to win all the trophies we won last season.
“Every game is important for us because we want to win everything we compete in and the way we played tonight, the way we ran and fought for the ball, we showed everyone how much we want to win and we can do it.”
