Rodri has urged the City players to learn from their mistakes in the defeat to Norwich City on Saturday.

The champions went down 3-2 at Carrow Road, a result that saw us slip five points adrift of leaders Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

And Rodri, who scored his first goal for the club late on with a powerful low drive, believes City gifted Norwich all three of their goals and called on his team-mates to reflect on what was an error-strewn display.

“Pep told us it was going to be very, very tough and we saw it on the pitch,” he said afterwards.

“But I think we lost this game because of us. I think they don’t do many things to win this game.

“Of course, congratulations to Norwich, they play really good football, but today we gave them chances. That’s something we have to look at ourselves and solve our mistakes.

“It’s not normal. The three goals are mistakes. But the good thing about the team is we never dropped.

“We have to keep pushing, be good mentally, be smart, calm and keep going,”

City have let five points slip already this season, having dropped just 16 throughout the entirety of the last campaign.

And with Liverpool starting strongly, the pressure is now on to ensure there are no more slip-ups in the coming weeks.

But Rodri has called for calm, and insists the players and staff are working hard every single day to improve our performance level.

“The season is very long,” he added. “You are going to have matches like this at least two or three. It’s normal.

“We are not perfect, and the good thing is we are at the start of the season not the end. That’s the only positive thing we can say.

“We are five points behind the leaders and that’s bad news but are working and we will keep pushing.

“The team is working, we are down now but we have to wake up because we have matches every three days.”
