The Portuguese has not been selected to take an in-game spot-kick so far, but he revealed he is more than willing to step to the plate if asked – and has the credentials to prove it.
“I think our penalty takers are great,” said Bernardo

“I was talking the other day with one of my teammates and since I arrived at Manchester City, I have won all of the penalty shoot-outs I have been involved in!
“In my first season we beat Wolves and Leicester on penalties, last season we beat Leicester and Chelsea on penalties and we also beat Liverpool in the Community Shield this season on penalties.
“Sometimes you miss, sometimes you score. The goalkeepers nowadays are also very good. I think we have great penalty takers.
“Kun is a great taker, Gundo is a great taker and Gabriel as well. If the manager feels that we should change (takers) then we will change and another one will go for it.
“I could go as well, no problem!”
Bernardo says City must go into the Champion League tie with Real Madrid in good form and that winning the next two games is crucial to going to the Bernabeu in the best shape possible.
“They are really good opponents,” he said.
“I think the best way to prepare is to win the next two, to beat West Ham and Leicester so the confidence levels go up and we are best prepared to play against Real Madrid.
“We can still make this season a success. If we do well in the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup.
“I think if we win the three cups this season it will still be one of the best seasons ever at this club so we can still make history this season and that is what we are looking to do.”
“Our motivation is simple for the remainder of the season is simple. If we drop a lot of points then we may go to fourth or fifth and we are out of the Champions League.
“That is not acceptable. I think we have to finish second, not only because we don’t want the gap to keep increasing, but because we want to directly qualify for the Champions League.”
