Irish U21 midfielder, Flood has gone to Coventry for an initial month, and 19-year-old striker Bermingham joins Burnley in the hope of valuable league football.
Pearce told mcfc.co.uk: “It’ll be a month at first for both players but if all goes well it’ll be until Christmas. I wouldn’t let them go any further than that because I think that’s counter productive to us.”
He explained: “I said to all the younger players at the start of pre-season that they’d be given the chance to be around and show me what they can do. I’d then make judgments in respect of if I thought one or two of them needed first team experience.”
The Manager stressed the loans are just that and he hopes to reap the benefits: “It’s not because I’d like to get them out of the Club, and I’ve expressed that to both lads, more so the fact that their football upbringing needs first team experience.
“Willo, for one has been in the reserve side for maybe three seasons now, it’s first team football that he needs. Karl Bermingham is similar; he needs to play some senior football. I think it will improve them as players – that’s my hope.”
He added: “I see it as a bonus for us rather than a downside. I’ve seen before with players when they go away on loan and then come back as better players and more rounded men because they’ve been away and all of a sudden it’s time to fend for yourself as such.
“Fingers crossed they’ll have a certain time away, get a number of league games under their belts and come back to us as better players for Manchester City.”
