Having someone as versatile as Antoine is a blessing for any manager, and the player has been asked to play in different positions throughout his career.
He was required to play on the left, in the centre of midfield and also as a striker towards the end of last season, but these moves coincided with the unbeaten run that gave City a heartening end to the campaign.
Antoine is hoping that despite the moves asked of him, Stuart Pearce will think of him primarily as a central midfielder.
“What is my best position and where should I play has been a constant question in my career in France and England in the last fifteen years.
“In the final eight games of the last season I played a couple of matches in central midfield and not on the flank.
“In the other games I played as a striker so I can say now that I will play in the centre of the pitch.
“Stuart Pearce knows that I prefer to play in the middle but wherever I play I am the sort of character who continually wants to prove myself.”
But the former Lens man is a true team player, and despite wanting to get on the scoresheet a lot more this season, he says that his priority is to ensure that whatever his contribution, the team is successful.
“Everyone saw that in the final eight games of the season I played better than when I was on the left wing.
“Now I want to score more goals, but not for myself. The first thing is to win games and if I can score in those games I will be the happiest man in the world.”
