Andrew Cole is delighted with his on-target start for Manchester City. The prolific marksman took only 24 minutes to open his account for the Blues in the Asia Trophy match against Everton, and he did so in typical style, stealing in to stab the ball home from three yards.

The 33-year-old had already played in three pre-season games for Fulham, and he looked sharp from the outset, forcing a good save from Everton’s Ian Taylor in the second minute.

Substituted with 20 minutes to go, the striker was more than pleased with a good first day’s work.

“It was a decent game, and I’m happy with that. Its always nice to get off to a good start, I’ve done that so long may it continue.”

With Andrew having enjoyed a prolific stay at Old Trafford, it was inevitable that some would question his arrival at City. However, he follows in some illustrious footsteps, with the likes of Denis Law and Peter Schmeichel having crossed the city with great success.

The player knows the pressure that he will be under now having made the move to the club, but he has accepted it and knows that he can win the fans over by doing what he does best.

“Its not easy, but I’m not expecting to win the fans over in the first few games.

“I will give 100%, I’ve done that at whatever club I’ve been to. It makes no difference. I’ve got to keep working hard and get as many goals as I can.”
