City goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson is set for a minor operation on his troublesome ankle injury.

The Swedish international has been forced to miss out on the opening games of the season since his arrival from Rennes.

Stuart Pearce told mcfc.co.uk: “Andreas will probably need a small operation to remove some floating bone in his ankle, that will happen this weekend.

“Hopefully it will only be a couple of weeks, and with the international break coming up that will be a big help for us and him.”

Dietmar Hamann has also not featured since picking a foot injury on the pre-season tour of China, and the Manager has outlined the situation with the German midfielder as well.

“Didi’s on the training pitch, he’s still sore from the bruising on the instep but we feel as though if we keep progressing with him he will be available for Reading.”
