Micah Richards made his debut for the England Under 21 side in last night's 2-2 at Portman Road.

The versatile 18-year-old, who has appeared in a holding midfield role for City as well as in defence, played the whole match at right-back for Peter Taylor’s team in their European Championship qualifier against Moldova.

England took an early lead through Theo Walcott before the visitors replied on 75 minutes.

David Nugent grabbed the lead again a minute later before Moldova levelled the tie with just three left on the clock.

Nedum Onuoha had also been called up to the U21 squad but was recalled to play in City’s Pontin’s League match at the Regional Athletics Arena last night.
