Stuart Pearce has given his assessment on how City’s new players are acquitting themselves as pre-season training reaches the end of the second week.

When asked how the lads have settled in, the Blues boss told mcfc.co.uk: “Brilliantly. I’ve got to say that Didi, Ousmane, Dicky, who you would fully expect anyway, and Joe Hart have all come in since day one and given us something straight away and added to the squad we have here in different ways.

“They’re all different ages and bring different experiences. It’s Ousmane’s first time in England so he’ll bring experience of football in different leagues.

“Didi’s like signing a British player to be honest with you because he’s played over here that long.

“Dicky’s keen and his enthusiasm’s been infectious throughout the training sessions and he’ll be worth his weight in gold to this football club.

“Joe’s come in and he’s doesn’t look fazed by anything despite only being 19. He has been very impressed with the standard of coaching he’s received so far from Tim Flowers, which we knew he would be.”

After having a closer look at his new charges, Pearce isn’t surprised by how well they have taken to life at City, adding: “No, I’m not really, we make our enquiries off and on the pitch before we bring players in to the Club and look at them as professionals and make our judgements from there.”

And it’s the Manager’s judgements that count in the final reckoning. He stated: “I’ve worked with Didi before and know his abilities as does everyone. The same with Dicky – I know what he’s about.

“Ousmane came across as a good man and he’s shown that already in the short time he’s been here. Young Joe’s got a great family, who we met before he signed and that gives you a good insight into what the boy’s like before you even meet him.”
