New signings Elano and Javi Garrido are set to start Saturday's Thomas Cook Trophy match against Valencia.

Sven-Goran Eriksson revealed that the Brazilian playmaker and Spanish left back would feature at a very busy pre-match press conference held this afternoon, where the boss presented thios week’s four new signings.

He was flanked by Vedran Corluka, Elano, Valeri Bojinov and Garrido and after adding the foursome to his squad, Sven said: “Of course football is not that easy where you can buy a lot of players and put them on the pitch and say good luck.

“You have to be organised, defend well, attack well and play football together. So it’s up to me, the players and coaching staff to take part in that process.

“If you have good footballers it’s easier to play good football.”

When asked of the potential communication problems, Eriksson replied: “The players have been very good.

“Some have Italian and I have Petrov to speak to Garrido at the moment for me, but the others I can understand.

“The language of football is easy. Then the players will learn English, because it’s not only football in life, they have a private life. They will learn English very quickly.”

With the latest flurry of activity the Manager reiterated: “You can’t only buy the best players available.

“My dream is to have eight defenders, eight midfielders and four strikers, that’s what we are working towards. It will be like that when we’ve finished.

“If it goes on like this we will need two training pitches! Today we had 27 outfield players and three goalkeepers – that’s too much and we have to think about want to do about that.”
