Michael Johnson’s week gets better and better with the news that he has been named in the England Under 21 squad.
The Urmston-born youngster scored City’s winner on Wednesday night, his first goal for the club, and now he has been rewarded with a call up for England’s friendly against Romania at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate next Tuesday.
Former City boss Stuart Pearce has also called up two other City players, Joe Hart and Nedum Onuoha, for the match which will be his first since being named as the full-time Under 21 coach.
Johnson was in the provisional squad for the summer’s European Championships, while Onouha and Hart were both named in the final squad that was eventually knocked out by hosts Holland in a dramatic semi-final penalty shoot-out.
