The Blues midfielder told us: “I think Derby came and pressed us high up the pitch and made it hard for us to play.
“We had to scrap for the result and in the end 1-0 is a good result.”
Michael’s goal came just before half time and despite the much-peddled stat about the Blues not scoring a home Premier League goal since January it was almost worth the wait such was the quality of the strike.
Of course a modest Johnson talked us through it in truest of football traditions. He said: “I picked the ball up around the half way line and there was no one in front of me, so I kept running and played a nice one-two with Elano, the next thing I knew I was on the edge of the box and just had to slot it in and thankfully I did that.
“I’m very proud to score and City’s a great Club.”
After scoring the winner to make it two wins from two games, Johnson could be forgiven for getting a little carried away, but the level-headed Urmston lad wasn’t having any of that.
“No, we’re not getting carried away at all, our feet are on the ground,” he declared, especially with the small matter of the Manchester derby this coming Sunday.
“We’re on a roll and got a lot of momentum behind us. They’ve drawn two now, so the pressure’s on them, not us, to come here and beat us. I think it’ll be a good game.”
