Sven-Goran Eriksson is happy with life tonight after seeing his City side record victories in the first two Premier League games for the first time with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Derby County.

Speaking afterward Sven said: “Six points, two clean sheets, it’s very, very good!

“Even if we had problems first half because it was very difficult break down Derby, they were behind the ball, very aggressive and gave us no space to play. But it’s important that you get over that and don’t let them score.”

Michael Johnson scored his first goal for City with a fine shot from the edge of the box just before half time and Eriksson admits that the goal certainly made life easier for the Blues.

“After we went 1-0 up the game opened up a little bit in the second half,” he said.

“They had to try and score and that’s when we found more space and played a little bit better.”
