Micah Richards has given the City squad a boost by reporting fully fit on the first day of pre-season training.
The England defender’s 2006/07 campaign came to an early close when surgery was required to correct a long-standing calf injury.
Richards last match was the 2-0 win away at the Riverside in March, when the problem flared up enough to force him off during the first half.
Club doctor Mark Whittaker told mcfc.co.uk: “All the squad were given fitness programmes to adhere to during the summer break and we are delighted with their readiness for training.
“On top of their fitness programmes, both Micah and Paul Dickov were frequently back at Carrington during the close-season to do some extra work. They are both fully fit and have started training alongside the rest of the squad.”
