Currently in Sweden with the squad as the players prepare for Wednesday night’s friendly against Örgryte IS, Sven dismissed suggestions that his cool demeanour means that he isn’t passionate about the job.
Sven says: “If you think that I don’t care about the club I work for, that’s rubbish because I care very much. I think if you asked the players how much I care they would tell you that straight. If you think I will be standing screaming on the touchlines during matches, that won’t happen.
“I am who I am, my philosophy is that if you have children and they make a mistake then you don’t shout at them. You try to talk to them and make them learn from their mistakes, that’s my philosophy as a football coach.”
When asked whether City could realistically challenge the sides that routinely finish in the top four of the Premier League, Sven added:
“Dreams can never be impossible! The new owner told me that we need to build the club and we will have to do that in more than one season. It will take time, I promise you that at my first press conference after the window has closed I will tell you what our target is for this season.
“I am at a club that has a hunger to do better, when that is the case the players know it, I know it, my staff know it and the fans know it.”
