Temporary reserve team coach Ian Miller has reflected on last night’s 4-2 defeat to Bury at the Regional Athletics Arena.

Miller joined City as cover for Kenny Jackett, who is currently standing in for Hans Backe and the former Academy coach said: “We started poorly and gave Bury a two-goal start. If you give anybody a two-goal start it’s an uphill struggle really.

“They had three or four players from their first team and a big centre forward so that’s never easy. They came with a 4-5-1 system early on and caught us a bit cold.

“We plugged away, but defensively we just gave four bad goals away, from my point of view.

“We stuttered a little bit in the first half, better in the second because we caused them more problems, but just couldn’t convert the chances.

“The lads created lots and lots of chances in the second half, took two but couldn’t convert the rest, it was just one of those nights I think.”

Fresh from his first senior appearance across at the City of Manchester Stadium the night before, Ched Evans was back in the groove as he netted both the Blues’ goals.

Miller noted: “He’s got a terrible habit of scoring goals hasn’t he? A lovely, lovely habit though. His first was a penalty and then a header.

“I haven’t been here very long but he looks as though he’s a natural goal scorer and will score goal wherever. What level he goes on to, that’ll be the key, but he’s doing well at the moment.”

We’ll have more from Ian before the end of the week as he tells mcfc.co.uk about coming back to City.
