The 22-year-old striker marked his first appearance of the season with the winning goal in Tuesday night’s Carling Cup tie against Norwich, and he has made clear that he never had any intention to look for another club during the summer transfer window.
Georgios says, “I am 100% committed to City. I spoke to the gaffer but I knew that I was going to stay and fight for my place. The rumours you heard were just rumours.
“My first thought is to stay at City and fight for my position, maybe other players would quit and play somewhere-else, but I believe in myself. I believe that I can make a new start, be part of this team and be part of all the changes that happened this summer.
“I like it here, I like it in Manchester and I want to stay for many years. I like the club, and I think the club like me.”
The Greek international’s goal on Tuesday came from a central position, but he accepts being asked to play out wide at times because of the way that Sven-Goran Eriksson has the team playing this season.
He continues, “I’m not a left midfielder, I’m a striker and I like to play there. The gaffer makes the decisions, I accept that and I play my game. We’re playing in a different style to last year and it’s better for me, we’re playing more football, more of a passing game, more to feet like the game I learned in Holland.
“Mr Eriksson has changed a lot of things at the club, we’re playing good football now and we’re working really hard to improve our game even more. I think we’ll see a big difference over the next couple of months, but I’d like to ask the supporters to be patient and then they will see really good things in the future.”
