Sven-Goran Eriksson is confident that City fans will see the best of Nery Castillo this season.

The Mexican, signed on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, has only started four games since he became available at the start of January, but the Manager says fitness problems have hindered the 23-year-old from showing his true colours.

Sven says, “I have checked on the statistics, and since he came he has only trained in half the training sessions he could have done because of injuries.

“He had his shoulder injury, then there was a calf problem and I doubt that when he arrived that he was fully fit. He has a lot to do, but I believe in him for the future and you will see him more times in the league this season.”

But there’s better news on the injury front regarding Micah Richards. The defender has been sidelined since having a knee operation in late February, but with Nedum Onuoha now out until next season Sven is able to say that the England international should be training again very soon.

“Hopefully Micah will be back training on Monday, I don’t want to be too optimistic but we are hoping that he should be able to join in once again from then,” he adds.
