The 22-year-old striker put a year-long injury nightmare behind him within minutes of coming off the bench on Saturday as he headed his first senior goal for the Blues during the 2-2 draw against Stockport at Edgeley Park.
Afterwards he said: “It was good and for me it’s very important because this is my first game with the first team for almost one year. I’m very happy.
“It was a very hard and very strong game against Stockport. They were a good team and wanted to prove themselves because not every day do they play against City or Liverpool [as they did the week before].
So for them it was important and it was a good game, but it was crucial for me to play and to score.

And score in front of the City fans who made the short journey to Stockport as well…“The supporters were great also because it was the first proper game that I have scored for City,” the Bulgarian added.
So are the over exuberant celebrations that followed his goal something the fans could expect again?
“Yes, the fans had never seen me score before and I wanted them to see me happy to score for them,” he beamed.
“Every goal is special, whether that is in training or the game, because I am a striker who likes scoring.
“That was very good, but for me what is more important is the Premier League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and the UEFA Cup and scoring goals in those competitions.
“I said the last time I spoke to the website in Germany that I was very hungry in training to play and comeback stronger.
“Now I am hungry for goals and to win and progress. We have a new boss and I like Mark Hughes, so everything depends on me, if I train, play well and score then the boss will see this.”
