So here, after some debate, is the list we have come up with ahead of tomorrow’s presentation of the new Manchester City Manager to the Press...
Mark Hughes’ playing career began in 1978...with Manchester United as a schoolboy and he eventually retired from playing side at the age of 38 when he left Blackburn in 2002.
The new Manager’s real first name is Leslie and he was born in Wrexham on November 1, 1963.
In 1984 Mark scored the winning goal in Wales’ 1-0 victory over England in the last of the Home Internationals.
A strong back-to-goal striker, Hughes won 72 caps for Wales, netting 16 times.
During his career Hughes played for three European Cup winning clubs: Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
In 1999 Mark was appointed Wales manager after a successful spell in temporary charge - he still continued to play in the Premier League at the same time.
Mark’s final Premier League goal came in Blackburn’s 2-1 defeat at Leicester in March 2002 - current City striker Paul Dickov scored both the Leicester goals.
Took over as Blackburn Rovers manager in September 2004 and lifted Rovers from second bottom of the Premier League to 15th during his first season. An impressive sixth place finish and European football came from his first full season in charge.
During his four years in charge, Hughes led Blackburn on two UEFA Cup campaigns and reached three domestic semi finals (two FA Cup, one League Cup).
Hughes has been awarded both an MBE and an OBE for his services to football (in 1998 and 2004).
