Tottenham custodian Paul Robinson has had an up-and-down season, which has seen him lose his place in the England side and endure a barrage of criticism from the Press – but he has also picked up a Carling Cup winner’s medal for a side revitalised by new manager Juande Ramos.
Hart, who has been tipped to win a place in the full England squad after securing the City keeper’s berth, is generous in his praise of Robinson and he says:
“He’s done brilliantly in 95% of his games, the same could be said of any keeper. Petr Cech has probably made the same number of mistakes, but people leave him be. For some reason, people have been on Paul’s case but everyone makes mistakes. If they concentrated on the good stuff, it would even itself out and tip his way
“Comparisons do not bother me one bit, I don’t think it bothers any keepers because they just want to represent their team, not compete with the guy at the other end. I’ll be happy as long as we win, that’s all I want to happen on Sunday.”
Turning to Sunday, Joe is acutely aware of City’s need to secure three points for the first time at home since beating Bolton in December.
“It is a long time, especially after our start when we had a massive winning streak. We never want to disappoint the crowd, but we have disappointed ourselves and now we have dropped to ninth we need a big result on Sunday.
“Teams have come here with the gameplan of sitting back and trying to nick a result, but against a team like Tottenham we can express ourselves. It will be a good game to watch but we definitely need to beat them.”
