Sven-Goran Eriksson has praised Martin Petrov’s attitude during the three-match suspension that has now come to an end.

The speedy Bulgarian was sent off in the closing minutes of the defeat to Everton for kicking out at Leon Osman, but the Blues’ boss says that winger is in great shape for Saturday’s trip to the Reebok Stadium.

Sven says: “It has been a very long time, and we have missed him of course, he has absolutely been one of our best players.

“He’s been working extremely hard in training over the last couple of weeks, harder than I have seen him work before so if there is some logic in football, he will play very well on Saturday.”

The Manager has also giving a progress report on Petrov’s fellow countryman Valeri Bojinov in his battle to recover from the cruciate ligament injury that has wrecked his first season with the Blues.

“It’s been very positive with Valeri so far, he had some more tests in the middle of the week so we are now waiting to see how he is, but the physios and medical staff tell me he looked very good,” Sven adds.
