Darius Vassell wants City to take their frustrations out on Spurs when they face Juande Ramos’ side on Sunday.

The striker needs no reminding that City are without a goal in the last three games, but he insists that the Blues are a better side than recent performances suggest.

He says, “There’s a lot of built-up frustration, we know we are a good team, that we can compete with the best in the league. Once we get the first win in, we’ll be getting back to where we want to be.

“We’re all disappointed at the moment, we started the season well and got ourselves into a good position, and we have dropped performance-wise and results-wise in the last few games.

“The good thing is that if we put another good run of results together we can be right back up where we want to be.

“We’re scoring for fun and doing all the right things in training, but on match days maybe we have not had the luck and not put away the chances. New signings have settled in well, so there’s no big excuse, maybe we just need a bit of fortune and once the first goal goes in more should follow.”

Despite the recent run of results, City are in a much better position to this time last season as Darius underlines:

“Comparing this season to last, we are in a much better position, we have the possibility of European football so the goals are there for us. It’s down to us what we do over the next few games and whether we reach them.”

And of Spurs’ progress since the arrival of Juande Ramos, which has included winning the Carling Cup, Darius adds;

“He’s turned it around, they have done well in all competitions and they are a force again. It will be difficult like any other, but we have proved we can beat the best out there. It should be a cracking game.”
