Mark Hughes’ side played more swashbuckling stuff to pip Wolves 1-0 after following up the opening-day win at Blackburn with a midweek triumph over Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
But while City’s potency up front has inevitably taken the eye, SWP believes the three clean sheets that underpinned City’s super week must set the standard for success this winter.
Shaun, who tormented Wolves for much of the game, agreed: “We played some lovely football, especially in the first half - a few of us started to tire in the second and had to dig deep.
“We never thought that it was going to be an easy game against Wolves. We’d already seen them and knew the way they played, and we tried not to take it easy at all.
“The gaffer just told me he wanted me to go in there and impose myself the best I could. But the main thing that stands up for me is that we’ve kept three clean sheets, two away from home.
“We have to keep that going. Everybody is working hard for the team, and the front men are doing their shift and pressing defenders, making life difficult for them.
As long as we defend as eleven men rather than five or six, I think we’ll do fine this season.

While Emmanuel Adebayor grabbed the first-half goal that proved to be the match winner, it was goalkeeper Shay Given’s spectacular save from Matthew Jarvis that drew gasps from the 47,287 crowd.
An equaliser would inevitably have raised Wolves’ spirits and renewed their resolve, but SWP grinned: “Great save, but I never doubted him - I see Shay do that every day in training!”
