Both men will be on a mission to put one over on their former boss Arsene Wenger and help propel City into the last four - which would mean the Blues’ first major semi-final in 29 years.
Neither of Mark Hughes’ big summer signings is in top form, with striker Adebayor’s goal at Anfield his only one since the controversial 4-2 Premier League win over Arsenal in September.
Adey was subsequently suspended for three matches as a result of his clash with former team-mate Robin van Persie, who is ruled out of the quarter-final with ruptured ankle ligaments.
City manager Hughes said: “He was playing outstandingly well before he went out of the team - as well as any Premier League centre-forward I’ve seen in recent years .
“He also got an ankle injury which has hampered him of late. He’s been playing with that for a number of games now - that has to be factored in as well.
But he was flying, no bones about that. He gave us a real trigger at the front of the team for players to react to. We’ve got to get back to that

“Kolo is struggling a bit with form and injury - at times he’s played when possibly he shouldn’t. He could have been stronger with himself and said, ‘maybe I’m not quite right’.
“But he’s the captain and wants to lead from the front, so he’s put his hand up and said, ‘I’m ready to play’. You can’t criticise him for that, but sometimes you can compromise yourself. Generally, he’s done fine.”
Hughes will follow his normal selection policy of picking a strong side, but a doubt remains over Gareth Barry, who has been for a scan after missing Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Hull.
The Blues boss said: “He’s had problems with his groin and was feeling a bit of irritation behind the knee. The scan was clear but he still had a bit of discomfort yesterday.”
