City’s captain has warned his men not to throw away the feelgood factor created by successive wins over Arsenal and Chelsea.

Kolo Toure is determined that the momentum should not be halted in its tracks at Bolton next weekend.

The Trotters are currently occupying a bottom three slot and the Ivory Coast international wants the Blues to show no mercy.

“We have to make sure we build on the result from Saturday,” declared the skipper.

It is no good beating Chelsea with all the emotion that entailed and then coming home from Bolton with nothing

...Kolo Toure

“We have shown in the last few days that perhaps we have started to heed some of the lessons from drawing some games that we should have won.

“The performance in the win over Chelsea was even better than the one in midweek. There was a fabulous atmosphere and to come from a goal down like we did was a terrific effort. Everybody played their part and now instead of wondering which way our season might go we are into the mid part of December with a semi-final place booked and just one defeat all season.

“We have had wins over two very good teams and people talking about us as contenders again.”

Toure admits that at times this season the ‘C words’ Concentration and Consistency have been two major problems for the Blues and he hailed the man behind him as a saviour.

“We have got to make sure we remain mentally tough, it is not enough to beat the best sides we have to produce the same against everyone and that is something that Shay Given does every week,” he declared.

“We have a great goalkeeper who is at the top of his game at the moment. The penalty save against Chelsea was terrific but so was the effort from the rest of the lads.

“What is encouraging is the depth we have in the squad. We lost both full backs during the game and Craig Bellamy and Stephen Ireland before it but we still deserved our win over a team that was five points clear at the top of the table.

“It was a big day for City and I would like to thank the fans for driving us on and creating such a wonderful atmosphere.”
