Sunday’s draw was the first time the Blues have come away from Liverpool with anything since May 2003’s 2-1 win, and they went into the lead after the Brazilian had fed Vincent Kompany, who in turn set up the Welsh striker inside the box.
Bellamy, signed from West Ham last month, was in a typically forthright mood afterwards when asked about media speculation surrounding him and Robinho, and he responded by saying,
“I am a massive admirer of Robinho, I adore him as a player - how could you not? He’s exceptional, and I think other teams know that as well.
He’s our talisman, when people think of Manchester City they think of Robinho. He’s our biggest and best player by a mile.

“For us, he is a player we need to play well. When he plays well, we play well so we need him to be at the top of his game. It’s a lot to ask but we need him at his best.”
Craig accepts the media spotlight that has fallen on the Club with a shrug of the shoulders, and he adds, “It is part-and-parcel of what goes on, all part of being a footballer and you have to deal with it.
“It is also part of where we are as a football club, we are a club that everyone is looking at at the moment. And they have signed a controversial player who is always going to be involved in this sort of stuff!
“It does not worry me, it’s a challenge that I am looking forward to.”
Craig was delighted with City’s display against his former club, and thinks we were a touch unfortunate not to come away with all three points.
“Getting a point at Anfield will always be hard-earned because they are formidable here, and you have to work hard. That’s what we did, and towards the end we were maybe a bit unlucky not to get the three points. Every time we attacked I thought we had good opportunities to get another goal.”
