The Blues have not taken all three points in a Barclays Premier League fixture since August 31st, but they go into Sunday’s game on the back of a creditable draw in Copenhagen that could have ended in their fifth away win out of six games in Europe.
The first meeting between City & Liverpool this season saw the Reds come back from two goals down to snatch a 3-2 win, but Stephen is convinced that Liverpool’s attacking approach could allow City plenty of chances.
He says, “No one expects us to win this game but we often win the games we’re not expected to but Liverpool are quite like us. They like to play football and hit on the break so I think it will be a good game and end to end.
“The defeat at our place against them was hard to take. The turning point was when Zabaleta got sent off although we still should have won. I think we’ll have that fact on our minds at Anfield. I think they’ll be more space for us, it should be a good footballing game.”
Reflecting on Thursday night’s display, Stevie thinks City can be confident of making their two away goals count next Thursday.
“It was a good performance. I thought the defence were very good, they defended very well. From corners, they caused us some problems but I think we can learn from the performance and take it into next week. We were ahead twice and I think we should really have held on to the lead but looking back on it 2-2 is not too bad for us.”
