Valeri Bojinov and Martin Petrov both enjoyed unexpected roles as guest stars when the long-awaited LIVE4CITY/Junior Blues pantomime went ahead at the weekend.
Ben Mee, skipper of last season’s FA Youth Cup-winning Boy Blues, was also in the spotlight for a production of “Sleeping Bluety” that went down a treat with the family audience at the Gracie Fields Theatre, Rochdale.
The panto season went into extra time because City’s UEFA Cup success made it hard to find a suitable date - oh yes it did - but the players, plus mascots Moonchester and Moonbeam, made it a festive occasion for the kids.
So, another taste of English tradition for the lads. And we suspect there might be one or two shouts of “he’s behind you!” instead of “man on!” when our Bulgarian stars get back out on the pitch ...
