The Blues go into the game on the back of two impressive 2-0 victories, but at Stamford Bridge they will face a Chelsea side revitalised since Guus Hiddinck arrived as manager.
The Dutchman has overseen a run of five wins and a draw since he succeeded Luis Felipe Scolari, but Micah is confident that City can rise to the challenge.
He says, “It seems the better team we play, the better football we play. We went to Liverpool and played a cracking game there, against Chelsea at home we played good football. They have some great players, we just have to give it everything like we did on Thursday.
“We have good players, maybe other teams are a bit nervous because we are now playing good football. People are maybe noticing that now, but we are not going out there to end their title challenge or anything, we just have to concentrate on what we have to do and go for three points.”
Micah now occupies City’s right-back berth, and he has warm praise for the fellow Academy graduate that is partnering Richard Dunne in central defence.
“Nedum has had a lot of injuries, but he was in the team well before I made my debut, and he was really consistent back then. It’s only injuries that have stopped him from getting where he wants to go. I hope this form he’s in continues.”
Nedum is likely to come up against Didier Drogba, who as well as being back in prime form also has scored five times against City in previous meetings. Micah is a huge admirer, but he insists that City have plenty in their locker at the moment.
“I think he is my all-time favourite striker, he is so strong and fast and a great finisher along with Nicolas Anelka as well. They have a good partnership, but it’s about us on Sunday, we have to show what we can do. Stephen Ireland is on top form, when he plays well Robinho is a world beater so we will see what happens.”
And the England international is positive when asked whether City can target seventh place in the Barclays Premier League table, which could lead to a UEFA Cup spot depending on the outcome of the FA Cup.
“I don’t see why not, if we can sharpen up our away form there is no reason why we can’t get there. Chelsea will be tough, but we like the tough games.”
