Elano and Nedum Onuoha have won the final two Thomas Cook Player of the Month awards for the 2008/09 season.

The Brazilian playmaker was at his influential best in April, finding the target from the penalty spot with unerring accuracy and he was also just inches away from scoring twice with free kicks that rattled the woodwork in the second leg against Hamburg.

Nedum Onuoha takes the award for May, having already won once this season in March. The defender has won widespread praise for his quietly effective displays at the heart of the City backline and has been tipped for a full England call-up in some circles. He looks set to have a busy summer and is expected to captain the England Under 21 side in the forthcoming European Championships.

Vladimir Weiss is reserve player of the month, while the Academy awards for March, April and May go to Dedryck Boyata, Gregory Cunningham and Kieran Trippier respectively.
