Mark Hughes has given a pre-derby injury bulletin, and the news is that Shaun Wright-Phillips is struggling to be fit for the big game.

SWP has missed the last five games with an ankle injury, and it was hoped he would be in contention for Sunday’s visit to Old Trafford, but at his pre-match press conference City manager Mark Hughes had mixed news.

“We’re getting better,” he declared, “a number of players have joined in and I think that the clear weeks we are having are helping in that respect.

“Pablo Zabaleta trained today, Benjani had a run-out as well, but there is still a doubt over Shaun. That said, we have plenty of bodies to choose from.”

The Blues travel across town on the back of four straight victories, and Mark asserts that his side could not be facing United in better shape.

“We’re on a nice little run, four games unbeaten, and as I have said all week you have to go to Old Trafford with a lot of belief and confidence. That’s what we have, we’re playing well and winning games. We’re looking forward to Sunday, we’re in decent shape and if ever there was a time for us to go to Old Trafford, it’s now.”
