Emmanuel Adebayor is certain City are heading in the right direction after gaining a point at Anfield.

The striker’s headed goal, his first since the win over Arsenal in September, put City back on level terms and Stephen Ireland’s goal with 15 minutes left gave hope that City would end their run of successive draws.

But Yossi Benayoun’s equaliser within seconds dashed those hopes, and instead the Blues head back along the M62 with another draw but remain ahead of Rafa Benitez’s side.

Reflecting on the game, Ade said: “We had a chance to come away from Liverpool with a win, but we just have to concentrate more. But we have not lost here, and if it was a choice between no points and one point I would always take one point!

“I don’t think there’s such a thing as a good draw and it’s always better to win, but that’s football. We just have to keep focussed now, and once we win again hopefully we can get back on a winning streak.”

So we have to look at the positives and we took a point from Liverpool and we fought back after going behind, which was a good thing for us.

Ade thinks that City can take heart from getting a point at Anfield but is urging that a return to winning ways starts next week at home to Hull.

“We’re nearly there,” he declared. “Leading 2-1 at Anfield is not something everyone will do, but we have to believe that we can finish games off, and if we do we can believe that we can finish in the top four. That’s what we are fighting for and the boys believe it, so there’s no reason why we can’t achieve that.”
