Petrov was with his national squad preparing for a couple of friendlies when he was forced to return back to City’s Carrington training ground, where he is now undergoing rehab work.
The 30-year-old has enjoyed a fine season so far, scoring three times for the Blues and being named as the fans’ player of the month for October, despite not commanding a regular starting place on the left flank.
