Nedum Onuoha wants City to capitalise on their stunning win at Burnley when they return to their home patch next Sunday.

Four of the Blues’ remaining six games are at the City of Manchester Stadium, beginning with the visit of Birmingham and a week later it’s the mouth-watering prospect of the derby.

Saturday’s win at Turf Moor saw Nedum make his first start since February’s defeat to Stoke in the FA Cup and the England Under 21 international could not have been happier with the outcome.

“It’s not a bad result is it, 6-1 away from home?” he reflected. “And the fact that Sunderland beat Spurs means it was a really good day for us.

We didn’t really start thinking about the goal difference, but you could tell we were going to score a few goals.

...Nedum on win at Burnley

“Every time Carlos came into the hole, and somebody played it to him, you knew something was going to happen.

“We are fourth now, so it’s for us to lose rather than hoping other results go in our favour. We have four games at home, obviously hard games, but if we do as well as we know we can do, we have every chance of getting fourth.”

The race for the Champions League takes new twists and turns with each round of games, but Nedum is not going to carried away worrying about all the various permutations.

“I’m not going to start sitting down working it all out – I’d rather sit down and eat some pizza and watch some more football!

“In terms of finishing fourth, we just need to win as many games as we can, and good form would carry us through.”
