The City captain has admitted that he took time to adjust following his move from Arsenal in the summer and an injury picked up during the African Cup of Nations didn’t help matters, either.
“The first few months were a bit difficult for me because I’d been at Arsenal for a long time and it took a while to adapt to everything,” he said.
“It’s been a really tough season for me, but I feel I’m getting better and have put all my injury problems behind me and I feel really settled here.

Toure will return to Arsenal today for the first time as a City player and he knows the Blues will have to be at the top of their game to end the 35-year wait for a win away to the Gunners.
“It’s a very important day for us and a very difficult game. It will be a great day for Emmanuel, Patrick and myself because we are going back to face our old club, but the only thing that really matters is that we win and continue our bid to finish fourth,” he declared.
“I think Arsenal have been unlucky with injuries towards the end of this season otherwise I think they would still be in with a real chance of winning the title, but Mr Wenger is an intelligent man and I think they will be even stronger next season.”
Toure believes the Arsenal fans will give the trio of former Gunners’ players likely to be involved at the Emirates Stadium a mixed reception, but adds it won’t distract the Blues from the job in hand.
“After the time I spent there I think everything will be OK as far as I’m concerned and the same goes for Patrick, but I’m sure it will be tough for Ade,” he said.
“We are all professionals and will be prepared. We can’t worry about how the Arsenal fans will treat Ade because we just need three points – that is our only aim.
“It’s a crucial game that, if we win, will put us in a really strong position.”
