The boss was flanked by Yaya Toure, David Silva, Aleksander Kolarov and Jerome Boateng at a press conference following the open training session held at the City of Manchester Stadium.
City take on Valencia in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday evening before many of the squad meet up with their countries for a round of friendlies, something the Manager admits is far from ideal ahead of the opener at White Hart Lane.
“I don’t understand why after a World Cup why there is another international match like this. Some players only arrived a week ago and after Saturday they go again, which leaves us with only one day to prepare for Tottenham.
Keeping everyone happy is easy at the moment, but its next Saturday when it gets difficult! It was important that we brought in good players, and young players as well for the future.
...Boss on his squad juggling dilemma
“Now we have to act quickly, I have only seen everyone this morning and we have a week to go to Tottenham, but I’m not feeling too much pressure.”
Summing up his four purchases, the Manager added, “Yaya, Jerome and Alex are strong players – David maybe not so much! He’s a fantastic player, I wanted him five years ago at Inter but he wanted to stay at Valencia. These four players have the qualities I like – a good mentality, and they all want to win.”
The Spanish World Cup winner was back at the stadium a month after putting pen to paper on the deal that brought from Saturday’s opponents to City and he’s keen to impress as soon as he can.
“I want to do my own little bit along with everyone else here, to win something important for Manchester City,” David declared. “That’s what we are here for – to win titles. There’s a great atmosphere in the squad and we’re going to give it our best shot.
“ I hope I can do as well as some of the other Spanish players who have come here. It’s important to settle in as soon as possible, but I’m part of a great group of players and we are all aiming in one direction. “
