Playing Juventus on their home turf looked like a tough way to end the group phase when the initial draw was made, but instead City have the luxury of not needing to get a result in the Stadio Olimpico tonight.
“We should take it seriously,” the 34-year-old declares, “because when you play a big club like Juventus you are going up against one of the top clubs in Europe. They are up there with Barcelona and Real Madrid, and it is always going to be exciting playing against them.
“They are the biggest club in Italy, with their history and some of the players who they have had. It will be fantastic to play there, and it should be a great experience for our players who have not been before.
We should go for the win. With our experience so far this season, we should try to play our own game and try to win.
The majority of Patrick’s time on the pitch so far this season has been in the Europa League, and he admits to relishing the tests posed by playing continental sides like his former club tonight.
He adds, “I enjoy them, I like being tested by different types of opposition and different styles of football. It’s always exciting in Europe, it’s nice to know where you are as a player and as a team by playing teams from different countries.”
