Carlos Tevez is ready to step straight back in to the City side when the Blues take on Chelsea on Saturday.

The striker has been in Argentina on compassionate leave for the last two weeks following complications surrounding the birth of his daughter, but his return gives City a timely boost with Emmanuel Adebayor suspended for four games.

Tevez has been a huge hit since arriving at the club last summer, racking up 19 goals in all competitions, and manager Roberto Mancini is pleased to have him available for Saturday’s tough test.

“Carlos is in London,” Mancini told mcfc.co.uk just ahead of his Friday morning press conference, “and we will meet up with him at the hotel when we get there tonight. He has told me he has been training every day while he has been away, and we will need him, because we don’t have many strikers to pick from for tomorrow!

“I hope he has been able to do some kind of work during these two weeks. He arrived in London this morning and I don’t see a reason why he won’t play tomorrow.”

You’ll be able to see Roberto’s press conference on video, for free, later this morning on mcfc.co.uk.
