The striker has been with his family in Argentina on compassionate leave due to complications with the recent birth of his daughter, but manager Roberto Mancini has this morning stated that he has spoken with the player and that he will be back with the squad before the game against Chelsea.
The manager also says that Tevez has been training on a daily basis during his time away, declaring at his Tuesday morning press conference:
“I spoke with Carlos on Monday, and he will be back on Thursday or Friday morning. We want him back for Chelsea on Saturday, and he told me that he has been training every day while he has been back in Argentina.
“He has had a serious problem with his family, but I think that has been resolved and he told me yesterday that he will be able to get a flight back here later this week.”
